Heat, Trampoline and Football

It is hot!  I am over it.  It is not fun anymore.  Bring on fall please.  Ok enough of my whining.

The boys are trying to enjoy the trampoline.  Again, it is HOT.  They have been going out in the morning and evenings mostly.

Gasp!

We are on the second day of football practice and Dalton is really liking it, despite the heat.  It is a huge commitment with practices 3-5 times a week and games every Saturday until November.  BUT, it is already proving to be exactly what I was hoping it would be for Dalton.  Last night after practice I had to take Peyton to his friends house to spend the night.  Normally this would send Dalton into a "nobody likes me, Peyton gets to do everything" pity party.  Dalton did not care, he just wanted to go home and talk about his practice and new mouth guard with his Dad.
Dalton is the middle child.  Always in the shadow of Peyton and not the cute baby where everything is cute (in theory) like Sylvie.  He needed his own thing.  I am hoping that is what football will be for him.  It is what my horses were for me growing up, I get it. We will see what his attitude is Thursday after his first practice in FULL PADS. Ha!
Off to have another busy day.  Oh that reminds me.  The boys had dentist appts yesterday.  No cavities. Yay!

Birthday Boy!!

This year the boys both decided that they would much rather have a trampoline instead of a big "friend party."  But since Dalton's birthday fell on a Saturday this year I decided on Monday to have a cookout and use it as an excuse to have family over.  I planned it for evening so that it would not be so miserable outside.  We all ate inside but by the time we were done it was nice out.  The kids played on the trampoline, played ball and even played a game of duck-duck-goose.  Dalton had a great time.  I can't believe he is 9 and starting 4th grade :o(

Sylvie is up to her tricks.

Alex got her summer buzz.  Bless her heart.  She does feel so much better though.

Dalton and one of his buddies Friday afternoon.  Chris was weed-eating the backyard and told them to get out of the way.  This is where they chose to go.

Rumor has it that another builder is going to try to develop the land behind us.  That would break my heart.  I LOVE my backyard...I have the community of a neighborhood and close neighbors but my own little oasis in my backyard.  When we picked this lot 12 years ago, I had no idea just how great it was.  We have always know that it was possible development.

I hope everybody has a lazy Sunday.

Hot Monday

Sylvie and I are at the kitchen table playing with play-doh and the boys are still in bed.  I will not even tell you what time it is.  They should not be in bed!  This time in 2 weeks they will be in school.  Reality is going to hit them hard.
Sylvie loves to paint!  She entertained herself for a good hour painting one day last week.

One afternoon we went to Chris' work to go out to lunch with him.  Peyton was with us but for whatever reason did not want to bother with the picture.

I got a picture of him anyway.

Saturday Chris turned 40!  We got a sitter for the kids and went out with the Bjorklund's.  We went downtown and had such a good time.

This is our last lazy week of summer vacation.  :o(  I am feeling pressure to plan fun things for the boys.  Not sure why...the best part of summer break for the boys is to just sleep late and stay up late.  Next week starts football practice, Dalton and Peyton's birthdays, back to school prep, dentist appts and who knows what else!

Flying By

How is it already July 9th?!?  Today Dalton had his fitting for his football pads and helmet.  He is really excited about it but we are going to have to work on his confidence.  He knows a lot of these other kids have been playing for years and he has just played flag football.  It will be interesting to see how it goes.

This little girl is a spit fire.  She is now refusing to eat in her high chair.  She wants to be a big girl and sit at the table.  She is also refusing sitting in carts in stores and high chairs in restaurants.  UGHA!!  I bought special (expensive) safe natural polish and wanted to paint her toes.  She screamed and refused.  She refuses to let anybody do anything with that hair.  Most days she looks like a feral child running around.  This is not a good stage for going out.

She is finally going down the slide now.  She has always loved climbing up in the play house but would not come down the slide.

Dalton stayin' cool on a hot afternoon.

I just can not believe that there are only 3 weeks of summer break left.  The 3rd week is already so busy, we really only have 2 weeks left of lazy summer days.  CRAZY!

Have fun and stay cool. Next week is supposed to be a scorcher in Middle Tennessee.
